Fifteen minutes to a cleaner home

I must admit that sometimes, my house is just a mess.

As a stay at home mother of a sweet and energetic little two-year old and another baby on the way, there are times when just looking at the trail of toys, the clutter, the pots, the pans, and the dishes exhausts me…or sends me to the verge of tears. Continue reading

My Garden of Delight

“Drama Queen” is the nickname we’ve affectionately assigned to our daughter, Eden. Life is her stage. And, audience or no audience, she has a performance for everything. She’s written songs to accompany everyday tasks from hand-washing to bed-making. She dances through the kitchen while setting the table. The fork is her microphone and the plate her guitar. Each happening in our day becomes an event because of our daughter’s ability to celebrate the mundane. Continue reading

On My Heart

Just today around the blogosphere, I’ve read many posts by bloggers who don’t typically share on the “heart” side of things–but who have opened their hearts to share what is really going on behind the scenes.  It’s as if the Lord sent one last confirmation to “go” where I have been praying about with my own blog.  It’s been just what I’ve needed to finally put my own thoughts into writing. Jesse Tree Devotional

A few weeks ago, I mentioned that Ann Voskamp’s Jesse Tree Advent Celebration Book was out of print.  Well, I have great news!  Not only is it back in print, but Ann and her family are graciously offering it to each of our family’s as a gift this Christmas.

What a wonderful gift to give.

We put our Christmas tree and Jesus tree up last night and began our own celebration of Advent using the devotional.  I am so excited to incorporate this into our celebration of the birth of Jesus!

May the adoration of our Savior so present during this season be in our hearts year round!

Upcoming Real Food Christmas Cookie Exchange

Last year I had the opportunity to host my first ever Christmas Cookie Exchange.  It was so much fun to get together with a bunch of fellow Army wives while taste testing cookies and other appetizers and playing games. I miss those girls and the monthly lunches we shared – and I’ve still yet to find community similar to what I experienced among the women there.  Continue reading
